Year of the OX Exhibition
I was invited to participate in a group exhibition at Chinese American Museum @camlaorg celebrating the year of the Ox.
I created a sculptural diorama of an American Bison. The title Tatanka is a word from Native American Lakota Tribe meaning “Big Beast”. For the Northern Plains People Tatanka meant life. Ceremonies and daily life revolved around sacred reverences to Tatanka.
Living in America as a first generation immigrant I have a tremendous respect for the native culture. The land is sacred and we are all visitors on this earth.
Tatanka will be exhibited virtually live this Saturday at 12:30pm PST at the following link: https://exhibitions.camla.org/yearoftheox/
And the work will be available for purchase on Saturday at
Albert and I will both donate our proceeds to @camlaorg and @stopaapihate Stop Asian American Pacific Islander Hate.
Thank you, I hope this helps.
This exhibition is organized by the Chinese American Museum in partnership with Albert Chau (@grumpybert). Major support for this exhibition is provided by the Friends of the Chinese American Museum and the Department of Cultural Affairs, Los Angeles.
